Acat's body language is much more complex than many caregivers believe not only do we have to look at specific postures or signals, but we need to understand how they work in combination only this way can we understand what a cat is trying to communicate, keep reading to discover the keys to this understanding.


  As you may have noticed the wide variety of positions and signals a cat can display makes it impossible to summarize all of their postures and meanings, we can however provide you with some of the most common.


1) friendly:

   

 A happy and eager cat willing to interact with her Guardian will display a relaxed body posture accompanied by forward and upright ears next to a raised hill the eyes may be open and if they are confident the cat may rub up against and sniff us.




   Unsure in this case, we might observe the cat being tense and showing a completely straight tail except for the tip which is curved, the ears will be erect eyes wide open and a general sense of alertness will be seen usually as they expect our reaction.

  A cat will have a corresponding relaxed body posture and will look away without any concern the tail may be up or down and ears will be in a neutral position half-open, eyes are very indicative of well-being.




   A cat upset for some reason will adopt a straight and tense posture with a constantly moving tail resembling a snake, the feline is signaling to us that if we don't stop it will run away bite or scratch, we might also observe wide-open eyes and in some cases ears flat to the sides.



  A happy cat will show similar signals as a friendly cat, a relaxed body posture ears forward and tail raised additionally if they are very happy, we might hear some trilling vocalizations and their tail may vibrate pleasantly.



   Angry cats will be ready to show their irritation the body posture

will be visibly arched and likely accompanied by ears to the side and a noticeably bristled tail they and  might hiss and even meow threatening







 A cat can go from irritated to frighten when the defensive signals have not worked or they have not yet fled. the posture and signals are much more evident even to the point of meowing loudly hissing and constantly vocalizing with their mouths open a scared. cat is more likely to attack.





   A playful cat will use many body parts to communicate looking for attention they might nibble or scratch as a signal, so they want to play although only when it is not accompanied by other obvious signs of discomfort, we might observe open eyes and other signs which indicate the cat is looking to play with you.
